Self Heal Tincture Prunella vulgaris
Self heal
Botanical Name: Prunella vulgaris
Self-Heal is an underrated herb that is extremely common and can be found almost everywhere here in the springtime in the US. It's a small pretty flower, considered to be a weed, but as with most plants considered to be a weed, it can really pack a punch and is a wonderful healing agent.
Self-heal can be used topically when fresh, but here I'm going to be directly talking about the tincture. It is antibacterial and antiviral, helps reduce blood pressure, acts as a diuretic, is astringent, and helps to increase wound healing time.
As an astringent taken internally it can help reduce heavy periods, diarrhea, bleeding hemorrhoids, and bleeding gums. It reduces inflammation which helps to reduce sore throats as well, which sometimes accompanies spring allergies. Self-heal gets things moving in the body and can help to move a sluggish liver, and it's antiviral effect can help reduce the duration and severity of HSV1 & 2 symptoms.
Suggested Use:
Shake well. Take 1-3 mL (dropperfuls), 2-3 times a day, or as needed.
Those who are sensitive to the taste of herbal extracts, I recommend adding the dosage to a tablespoon or so of water or juice.
This product is not intended to treat, mitigate, prevent, diagnose, or cure any serious disease or medical condition.
